Regardless of the brand of SCBA you use, you can send in your PosiChek³ to International Safety Systems Inc. for authorized service and calibration.

A service quotation or service estimate will be provided and your authorization will be required before we proceed with the repair. For pricing to clean and re-certify your PosiChek³, please contact us for a quote.

On completion of service, a certificate of calibration and a copy of the test results will be issued. Our turn-around time is as fast as possible from date of receipt.

What is the PosiChek³ and what is it used for?

The PosiChek³ is a computerized test machine designed to evaluate the performance of completely assembled self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and other types of air-supplied respiratory protective equipment. The PosiChek³ has been the industry standard for thousands of fire departments, refineries, chemical plants and nuclear power stations worldwide since it was first introduced in 1988. The PosiChek³ incorporates a unique computer-controlled bellows apparatus that simulates breathing into and out of the mouth of a test head in the same manner that air is drawn into and out of the mouth of a human breathing apparatus wearer. The PosiChek³ is able to perform dynamic tests to determine if the breathing apparatus is functioning properly. PosiChek³ can fully evaluate the operational readiness of an Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) in less than 2 minutes, and consumes less than 1% of its air supply.

Why does my PosiChek³ unit need annual calibration?

The PosiChek³ must be calibrated annually to maintain the accuracy of the internal transducers. Each unit is inspected in great detail by a trained technician to ensure correct and accurate operation.

How can I submit my PosiChek³ for calibration in Canada?

International Safety Systems is the only Honeywell Analytics (formerly Biosystems) Authorized Service Centre in Canada. We are one of only four service centres in the world outside of the United States that is authorized to perform annual calibrations on the PosiChek³ unit. I want to upgrade my PosiChek³ with the USB connection. Can International Safety Systems help me with that?

Yes. For all Canadian users of the PosiChek³, we are the only Honeywell-authorized service centre for all repairs, calibration and upgrades. Just send your unit to International Safety Systems and our trained staff and technicians are happy to do the rest. Honeywell classifies the USB upgrade as a function of manufacturing, thus all PosiChek³ units must eventually be sent to a Honeywell manufacturing facility. We know exactly where and how to send the PosiChek unit for the USB upgrade and when any of this information is due to change. Please note that your annual calibration will be included for free as part of the conversion to USB.

How much does it cost to calibrate my PosiChek³ with International Safety Systems? How much does it cost to convert my PosiChek³ from a Parallel Port to a USB?

As of 2012, International Safety Systems has three standard flat fees for services related to the PosiChek³. These prices do not include the cost of replacement parts if your unit requires repairs. These prices include shipping within Canada and are as follows:

How do I package my PosiChek³ for Shipment?

The only acceptable method of shipping your PosiChek³ for calibration is in the original manufacturer-approved cardboard box with the internal foam padding that your unit originally came with.

Do not ship your PosiChek in a Pelican Case. These cases are recommended for your own transportation requirements but are not acceptable for the annual calibration services.

When returning your PosiChek³ for annual calibration, you do not need to send the head assembly or any cables or software or tools with the PosiChek³ base unit. The only component that must be sent to us is the PosiChek³ base unit. Our technicians have all the necessary tools and attachments to successfully calibrate your unit.

Please note: if you do not send your unit as required, International Safety Systems will ship your unit back to you in an approved container after calibration and charge you a $55 fee. You will also have to make other arrangements to get your other container (or pelican case) back at your own expense. ISS will not ship your PosiChek³ inside a pelican case or any other non-approved container.

Please note if you do not ship your unit in a cardboard box you will also be billed $12.

If you fail to follow proper shipping instructions, International Safety Systems waives all responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged PosiChek³ units.

My PosiChek³ already has the USB upgrade. Will ISS calibrate my PosiChek?

Yes. For all Canadian users of the PosiChek³, International Safety Systems is the only Honeywell-authorized service centre for all repairs, calibration, and upgrades.

How long will I be without my PosiChek³ after I have sent it in for Calibration?

Typically, International Safety Systems will turn around your PosiChek³ within two to three business days from its date of receipt at International Safety Systems in Newmarket for a standard calibration for a non-USB upgraded unit. In the case that your unit requires a USB upgrade as well as calibration, International Safety Systems will be sending your PosiChek³ to a Honeywell manufacturing facility for part of this process.

At this point in time, International Safety Systems cannot provide accurate information as to how long it will take for you to get your PosiChek³ back if your unit will have the USB upgrade performed. Please note that in this unique time where all PosiChek units from around the world will be undergoing the USB upgrade, lead times may be quite lengthy. Within months, International Safety Systems will be able to return to the typical turn-around time of 2 days that our customers have come to expect from us. As a broad guideline, in the case that your unit already has the USB upgrade, please allow 4 to 6 weeks for turn-around time.
